Alexis Amann Art & Illustration

Hi, I’m Alexis! I'm an artist and illustrator raised on the magical Oregon coast and now living in the SF Bay Area for over a decade.  I love working with gouache and ink, making pixels look like gouache and ink, playing with narrative, and creating unique characters. I earned my BA in Painting from Portland State University and my MFA in Painting from San Francisco Art Institute.

When I’m not in the studio I can be found hanging out with my partner and cats, going for a walk by the ocean or bay, or obsessing over houseplants at my favorite local nursery (ask me if you are in the Bay Area!). I grew up reading lots of fairy tales, mythology, comics, fantasy, and science fiction, and loving nature, and all of this informs my artwork today.

Some of the wonderful clients I’ve been lucky enough to work with include: Potential Gospel (band), Windy City Times, Portland Mercury, Berkeley Streets Alive, Dragontime (band), Circle Community Acupuncture Clinic, and World Savvy. I also have an extensive gallery exhibition history showing my paintings, drawings, and painted installation work— see below for for more details.

Let me know how I can help you with your illustration project or artwork commission, or if you have any inquiries on available original paintings and drawings.  Get in touch!
