Scrying Moon and the Comet of 2017
Here's two personal editorial pieces I made at the end of/beginning of the year 2016/2017.
The first one -- the Scrying Moon was a response to the tragic and terrible Ghostship warehouse fire in Oakland, and how the immensity of loss and grief affected all of us. Even the moon didn't know what to do -- she's water scrying trying to find some answers.
The second one, Comet of 2017 was made in the days before the inauguration as my feelings of unease and worry about the new administration grew worse and worse. Like many people, I had the growing feeling of an impending disaster we can't control, or fix. Unfortunately that seems to have been all too true, as this first week attests.
Also -- both of these pieces are digitally painted, starting with linework done with ink and brush and scanned in to work from. Still working on my learning curve with this, but definitely getting happier with the results.
